Amber Badley L.L.M, Founder and CEO
Amber Badley is the Founder and CEO of Firebird, which she established in 2017 to provide expert, practical support in data protection, privacy, and information governance. With over 25 years of experience in the field, Amber has helped hundreds of organisations across the public, private and third sectors meet their UK and EU legal obligations when handling personal data.
Throughout her career, Amber has developed and delivered data protection frameworks for complex and high-risk environments, and regularly provides expert guidance on sensitive or high-profile information sharing requests. Her expertise spans Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information Act requests and disclosures to the Courts, Police, Solicitors, Safeguarding Teams, and during Company Acquisitions.
Amber has also supported organisations through serious data breaches, including ransomware attacks, handling correspondence with the Information Commissioner’s Office and affected individuals. She has given evidence at Information Tribunal hearings and was a witness in the landmark case Dransfield vs Information Commissioner and Devon County Council [2015], which helped define the legal threshold for 'vexatious requests' under the Freedom of Information Act.
In 2019, Amber was invited by the Department for Education to join its panel of data protection experts, creating national guidance to support schools in implementing the GDPR. She has since served as an outsourced Data Protection Officer for over 120 organisations.
Amber holds a Master’s Degree in Information Rights Law, specialising in Data Protection and Freedom of Information laws, and is a BCS Certified Trainer through Freevacy Ltd.
She is known for her pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and is passionate about making data protection accessible, proportionate and practical for every client.

Charlotte Staples (CIPP/E), Senior Privacy Consultant (Commercial)
Charlotte has over a decade of experience providing Data Protection Officer support to some of the UK’s biggest non-profit organisations and commercial multi-million-pound businesses (including household names), helping them to build robust data protection compliance frameworks.
She has extensive expertise in the application of the UK and EU data protection laws in the luxury, aesthetics, retail, e-commerce and hospitality sectors, and global experience of adherence to the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China (‘PIPL’).
Charlotte specialises in supporting clients navigate the complexities around their compliance and developing practical-based solutions to mitigate their risks whilst remaining commercially competitive.
Her core strengths lie in supporting compliance in relation to direct marketing including cookies and tracking technologies; managing security incidents; the introduction of new technologies including Artificial Intelligence; and dealing with complaint and complex Subject Access Requests.
Charlotte holds a Graduate Diploma in Law, is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is also a qualified Data Protection Practitioner (CIPP/E)

Tim Moorey (CISSP) is Firebird's Senior Cyber Security Consultant
Tim has over 20 years’ experience in the information assurance and cyber security fields including defence, law enforcement, government, civil nuclear and finance sectors.
He has held a range of roles including Head of Sector Security, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and National Cyber Policy expert. He has implemented and led cyber security maturity programmes in FTSE 100 and critical organisations where resilience is pivotal to organisational and societal needs.
Tim has extensive experience assessing, testing, and implementing cyber security controls and governance to help organisations to ensure that they meet regulatory or National requirements but also reduce their own risks of data breaches and cyber-attacks.
Through his knowledge and experience, he has enabled firms to achieve the respected ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certifications which help firms demonstrate their commitment to data privacy & responsibility to their customers, shareholders, and the public.
Tim has led cyber breach exercises to enable board members to be ready to recover quickly from cyber attack scenarios. He believes that preparing for a breach is vital however, having effective, tested recovery plans is critical.
Tim is passionate and enthusiastic about cyber security and through his collaborative and pragmatic approach, he has helped organisations to grow cyber maturity cultures organically.
He has spoken at national conferences and delivered Cyber Awareness Programmes which have led to a reduction in serious security breaches and increased vigilance amongst staff.
Tim is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security Professionals, is a
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and a
Certified Ethical Hacker.
